There has been a change of hands at the Barrington, I have never stayed in the rooms there but have used the bar a lot! It has been redecorated by the new owner, giving it a brighter look to the inside! With the addition for a new pool table, a juke box and a games machine I'm sure the Barrington will be as popular as ever! This will be well received at our next work gathering. I'm a huge fan of the staff there they do a great job of making you feel welcome.
The Barrington Arms stands at the heart of the village of Shrivenham, where we enjoyed a lunch arranged for a big family occasion in June 2025, and we were delighted with this. Naomi and her team are incredibly hard working and they provided a beautiful home cooked hot buffet, freshly prepared, for over thirty guests. Naomi is a wonderful host and couldn't have been more helpful in planning the menu with us, the choices were all delicious and she was careful to allow for dietary requirements. We were accommodated in the conservatory area, giving us plenty of space to enjoy our event, with plenty of tea and coffee provided, and staff members were friendly and helpful. We also booked several rooms for guests staying overnight and they were comfortably accommodated and enjoyed the generous breakfast. Thank you to all at The Barrington!
Just had a great evening at the Barrington Arms. Lovely food, great music from The Turn, and really friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
10/10 for keeping the village pub and hotel open. It's a tough ask, and the work the team put into running this place is to be applauded. Without a heart, villages die, so come in and enjoy your visit! We stayed for a couple of nights. The freshly cooked breakfast was really good, a perfect start to the day before heading out for a walk.
Although the hotel was undergoing refurbishment the service was outstanding… being run from the pub across the road made my experience even better I think as the staff and customers were extremely friendly and the pub is just what you’d hope for from a village like shrivenham warm and cosy … many thanks for a great stay will definitely be back and would recommend to all
Have eaten here twice recently, an evening meal with a colleague and a Sunday lunch with friends and dogs. The bar area was refitted not long ago and is now a clean, bright, spacious and comfortable environment. Both evening meal and Sunday lunch were perfect, the latter had a nice simple menu of 4 choices, lamb shank, roast beef, chicken or veggie making it easy to get on with. Good sized portions, great Yorkie puds and perfectly cooked veggies (my preference not too soft but not crunchy!) Good choice of drinks. Staff were all lovely - friendly and efficient. And dog friendly? I deliberately asked for a remote table when I booked but they went the extra mile and pre-positioned a water bowl by our table and laid a rug out to soften the wooden floor for our old boy! Struggling to find fault with either experience, highly recommend.
Had a fabulous stay really friendly & helpful staff, lovely room, great shower and very nice breakfast. Loved the bar area too. We'll be back!!
